This is beyond my control.

Where AI, culture, and human understanding seek a common language.

  • connect people across cultures
  • understand one another better
  • widen access to art, culture, and science
  • support learning and reduce exclusion

This website explores ideas at the intersection of AI, culture, accessibility, and education. Its purpose is to make knowledge more accessible, encourage understanding across differences, and support a more human approach to technology.

LUMEN — A human-centered AI concept dedicated to cultural understanding, education, and peace.

UI / UX / Python Developer
Created by Nicolas Pirson — UI/UX, development, accessibility, and human-centered design.
This website presents my vision of AI: clearer, more human, more educational, and more respectful of cultural differences. LUMEN is not just a tool idea it is a long-term concept for helping people understand each other better.

Dedicated to the OpenAI team.

If you're interested in understanding the bigger picture of AI and how it works...
If you want to avoid the divergent opinions widely spread on social media...
If you have questions, feel free to ask here whenever you want...

Just let me put into words exactly what's on my mind! 😉

Before becoming strong like an oak, you first have to be as dumb as an acorn.

Background

My path is not linear. I started with photography and music, developing a strong sense of perception, timing and detail.
Later, I moved into web development and technical environments, learning through practice and real-world experience.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in systems, tools and human-centered design. Today, I focus on Python and AI, building meaningful tools and exploring new ways to connect technology and human understanding.

product design

I’ve designed stuff that actually worked — sometimes even without a manual.
My method? Common sense, too much coffee, and a healthy dose of swearing.

UI/UX Design

I’ve spent more time simplifying things than people have trying to understand them.
End result: even my grandma could click the right button (if she had a mouse).

motion graphics

I make pixels move like nightclub dancers... but sober.
Nothing flashes unless it has a reason to.

Web Development

I’ve squashed more bugs than a windshield in summer.
HTML respects me. CSS fears me.
JavaScript? A drama queen.
PHP? An ex I keep working with because, well… some decisions haunt you forever.

PHOTOGRAPHY DEGREE – Promotion 1992

1992
Fell asleep more often than not in class (warm room, guilty teacher).
Still graduated with distinction.
Yes, even while half asleep.
Professional photographer with official access to the title, back when autofocus still had self-esteem.

MASTERING SURVIVAL – Ongoing

2007
Not your usual degree.
I’ve learned more survival skills in real life than in any classroom.
Bonus course: How to spot real humans (and avoid the rest).

WEB DEveloper – Gendebien & Company (Ex BDDP)

Apil 2001 - April 2003
Designed clean sites, coded dirty jokes (only the backend saw them).
Sometimes I even made IE6 behave. A true exorcist.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER & Developer – Atmosphere BBDO

2003 - 2024
ActionScript developer, Flash games, OOP, css, PHP(Junior)...

See more on my LinkedIn profile and recommendations.

FRONTEND DEV – Freelance Life

Always in progress (this is NOT a joke!)
Built websites, rescued crashed ones, resurrected a few from HTML hell.
My CSS hacks still echo in dark corners of the internet.

UI/UX DESIGNER – Present and ++

Now (While loop here)
I make things simple.
So simple that users click without even thinking.
(Some say it’s magic. I say: caffeine + empathy.)

Just contact me to know the whole storyboard!
