## Important update note

MetaSearch 1.8.0 replaces all previous releases.

This release adds the ability to delete saved profiles. It also updates the ISIDORE source to use a Google site search when ISIDORE's native search is unavailable.

## Purpose

MetaSearch is a research assistance tool.

It helps users open selected scientific, academic, and medical sources while applying queries in a consistent and transparent way. It does not replace professional judgement, official guidance, clinical expertise, or specialised medical databases.

## Privacy

MetaSearch does not use artificial intelligence to process searches. It does not collect, store, sell, rent, or share the content of search queries.

The application does not use advertising networks, marketing trackers, analytics platforms, profiling systems, or commercial data brokers.

## Licence verification

MetaSearch may perform an online licence check through a secure HTTPS API.

Only technical information required for licence management may be transmitted, such as a machine identifier, the application version, the licence type, licence status, and expiry information.

MetaSearch does not transmit patient names, clinical notes, medical files, health records, or search-query content to the licence server.

It does not provide diagnoses, treatment recommendations, clinical decisions, or medical advice. Information retrieved from external sources must be evaluated and verified by the user using reliable references and professional judgement.

## Installation

Run `MetaSearch_1.8.0_Setup.exe` and follow the instructions displayed by the installer.

MetaSearch is installed in the standard application folder for the current Windows user. Local preferences and profiles are stored separately in the user's local application-data folder and are preserved when the application is updated or uninstalled.

## Uninstallation

MetaSearch can be removed through the standard Windows Apps interface or from the MetaSearch Start Menu folder.
